Govt expects around Rs 18,000 crore investment in the electronics manufacturing segment by 2021-22
The finance ministry has allocated Rs 2,631.32 crore for various schemes to boost electronic manufacturing in the country.

The government has set a target to get around Rs 18,000 crore investment in the electronics manufacturing segment by 2021-22. The finance ministry has allocated Rs 2,631.32 crore for various schemes to boost electronic manufacturing in the country, including Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, Modified Special Incentive Package Scheme (MSIPS), Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) scheme and electronic development fund.
The government has set a target of getting incremental investment by mobile companies and electronics manufacturing units approved under the PLI scheme of Rs 1,000 crore and expects one lakh people to be employed by the approved companies till FY 2021-22. ....

The PLI scheme, launched earlier this year, has attracted the likes of iPhone contract makers Foxconn, Pegatron and Wistron, as well as Samsung, Karbonn, and will lead to manufacturing worth Rs 11.5 lakh crore.

New Delhi: The government expects a huge jump in the collectio of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the coming months due to the launch of the new Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme as manufacturing units paid GST worth Rs 35,634 crore under a previous electronics manufacturing incentive scheme where the subsidy provided was just Rs 1,021 crore.

Economic Times citing government estimates mentioned in a report that about 223 applicants invested Rs 23,991 crore under the Modified Special Incentive Package Scheme (MSIPS), which was revised in 2015.
