(JULY 26) Maori female boxer The Nightmea Motu is set to wear the rainbow flag for her upcoming boxing fight against Rangi Hetet on August 7th at Te Rapa Racecourse in Hamilton. The two-weight division New Zealand boxing champion Mea Motu considers herself as an ally to the Rainbow and gender diverse communities. All of the people in the gym that she trains at, Peach Boxing, either has a family member in the community or is close friends of someone. I wear the flag because it does stand for my family and Im proud to have takatāpui in my family Motu said. ....

Northern Advocate Good news – Eric Monk s portable cabin and all his belongings were recovered by police yesterday after it was stolen from a property in Paihia last Saturday. The 6x3-metre cabin was towed away from ancestral Maori land on Tahuna Rd by an old white Transit van under the cover of darkness. Monk had been renting the cabin for six months while trying to get his life back on track after years in and out of prison. A police spokeswoman said they were in the process of arranging its return to Monk. Enquiries into who was behind the theft were ongoing. ....
