The Media Association of Solomon Islands (MASI) is embarking on a scoping study to strengthen the media industry.
MASI executives recently consulted with media editors, senior media practitioners and other relevant bodies to identify and develop concepts to protect the media industry and to develop mechanisms to hold journalists to an expected standard to account for their work.
MASI President, Georgina Kekea says the media industry in Solomon Islands is a growing one yet there is not a set standard code of practice for media practitioners nor does it have an establishment to ensure journalists and/or media organizations account for their publication. ....

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare had a courtesy visit from the Media Association of Solomon Islands (MASI) yesterday.
MASI president Georgina Kekea thanked the Prime Minister for availing his time to meet with MASI.
Ms Kekea also updated the Prime Minister of the current plans of the MASI Board and the challenges faced by the media industry in the country.
The MASI president also acknowledged the Prime Minister who is also the patron of MASI for recognizing the important role played by the media in the country. ....

The Media Association of Solomon Islands (MASI) recently hosted a three (3) days session for its members.
Funded by the UNDP’s Transparency Accountability Project (TAPS), the MASI session focuses on ‘leadership development’ in the newsroom and media industry.
The UNDP’s TAPS is taking the Solomon Islands National Anti-corruption strategy as a foundation. The project aims at reducing corruption levels and its impact for the people of Solomon Islands.
Cost-shared by the government of Solomon Islands, the project supports institutional efforts to reduce corruption and develop effective, accountable, and transparent institutions at all levels to ensure effective and timely achievement of ....
