When Canada went into lockdown last March to combat COVID-19, the First Nations Health Managers Association (FNMHA) knew they needed to get information out, and fast.
“There’s been such a barrage of information coming out, especially as the science evolves and changes,” said Marion Crowe, FNMHA chief executive officer. “We wanted to be able to  create  a central place to gather together where  viewers  could go and see people from different nations, people that look like us, sound like us, laugh like us.” ....

With a ton of information about COVID floating around on the internet, it’s sometimes hard to figure out what is fact, and what is fiction.
That’s where the First Nations Health Managers Association comes in to play… since last year, they’ve been dedicated to helping break down the latest and most up-to-date info, with help from a weekly Town Hall style show, featuring some of Canada’s top doctors and medical experts.
Marion Crowe is the CEO for the FNHMA out of Ottawa, and she joins us to tell us not only about the organization, but also what we can learn from these townhall style COVID discussions. ....

COVID-19 in B.C.: Over 1,000 new cases again; almost 400 hospitalized; and more

B.C.’s new case count surpassed the 1,000 mark once again. What’s more, the number of people in hospitals is now close to 400 patients.
In other news, Surrey RCMP reported that the number of health violations is increasing in the city officers attended five large gatherings at residences and issued 18 violation tickets (a total of almost $17,000 in fines) over the past week.
When it comes to LGBT people in B.C., there hasn t been much, or perhaps any, discussion about LGBT+ people and issues during B.C. COVID-19 briefings.  ....

First Nations Health Managers Association (FNHMA) COVID 19 Virtual Town Hall
First Nations Health Managers Association (FNHMA) presents a new series of Virtual Town Halls designed to get credible Covid 19 information to Indigenous front line health workers, health managers and Indigenous communities nationally.
The virtual town hall series starts this Wednesday April 14th, 2021 from 10am - 11am PDT / 1:00pm - 2:00pm weekly, EDT and happens every Wednesday at 10:00am PDT / 1:00pm, EDT, till July 3rd, 2021. 
You can tune in by visiting www.ihtoday.ca/townhall OR watch the live stream over on the Co-op Radio Facebook Page. A rebroadcast of the Town Hall will be aired on Sunday s between 8pm and 9pm on 100.5FM. ....
