Muntinlupa City employee, 'accomplice' arrested by NBI for 'extortion, swindling' – Manila Bulletin

A Muntinlupa City employee and his alleged accomplice have been arrested by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for reportedly extorting money and swindling a person who was applying for city permits.
NBI Officer-in-Charge Director Eric B. Distor identified the two arrested suspects as Tessie Cortez Alvarez and James Villafranca Magan, an employee of the Office of the City Engineer and Building Official of Muntinlupa City.
The NBI said the suspects were arrested during an entrapment operation conducted last Friday, May 28, by the NBI’s International Airport Investigation Division (NBI-IAID).
Alvarez and Magan have been charged with estafa, a crime under the Revised Penal Code, before the Muntinlupa City Prosecutor’s Office. ....

Muntinlupa City hall reduces workforce, office hours amid surge in COVID-19 cases

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi signed Executive Order 13 implementing the measures starting on April 5 until further notice. The new office hours at the Muntinlupa City hall will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On April 2, Muntinlupa recorded 189 new COVID-19 positive cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 7,588 including 1,143 active and 204 deaths.
City Health Office (CHO) acting chief Juancho Bunyi recommended to the mayor the reduction in workforce at the Muntinlupa City Hall complex composed of the main building, annex, and People’s Center after recording a high attack rate of up to 211 cases per 1,000 population among employees from March 27 to April 2. ....

Fresnedi to lead Muntinlupa's 26th cityhood anniversary rites – Manila Bulletin

From a municipality, Muntinlupa was converted into a highly urbanized city on March 1, 1995 when then President Fidel Ramos signed Republic Act 7926, the Charter of the City of Muntinlupa.
The people of Muntinlupa approved and ratified the cityhood in a plebiscite held simultaneously with the elections on May 8, 1995. With this, Muntinlupa became the eighth city in the National Capital Region and 65th in the country.
“This is truly a historic commemoration of our cityhood anniversary amid the ongoing pandemic. Muntinlupa’s progress is a result of the perseverance and unity of our local leaders and Muntinlupeños,” said Fresnedi. ....
