Although Tropical Cyclone Imogen was downgraded to a tropical low soon after it crossed the coast on January 3, that didn t stop its excessive rainfall inundating much of north Queensland as it slowly made its way down the coast, Mr Littleproud said.

Forecasters say wet weather is expected to ease out of the weekend as residents take a break from having to water their fruit and veggie patches.
Fraser Coast rain gauges caught about 10mm of rain on average on Thursday, with the most at Takura with 15mm.
Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) meteorologist Matt Marshall said a light shower or two was still expected for Friday and a cloudy start to the weekend.
“You’ll see something similar to what you’ve seen the last few days,” he said.
While the rain is predicted to ease up the temperature is also set to be a “little cooler than usual”. ....

Parts of Queensland s main highway are under water and there are fears the unpredictable and relentless weather conditions are here to stay.
Another 100-150mm of rain fell overnight in some northern parts of the state following days of torrential rain, damaging winds and flash flooding.
A spokesman for the Bureau of Meteorology said heavy rainfall is forecast for Thursday particularly around Mackay, around Townsville. ....

Deluge triggers 'life-threatening' flood warnings


North Queensland continues to cop a beating from ex-tropical cyclone Imogen as forecasters warn there is still a risk of life-threatening flash flooding on Wednesday.
At least 14 flood alerts are active as of Wednesday morning, including a major warning for the Herbert River after a major catchment received more than 400mm in the last seven days.

Near Tully, Clump Point has received 264mm since 9am on Tuesday, while Halifax, near Ingham, measured 204mm.
