Corps members key to achieving Mambilla power project —North-East govs

Representatives of the North-East Governors’ Forum have described the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme as a critical stakeholder in the actualisation of the multibillion naira Mambila Hydro-power project.
The group, which is a fact-finding committee constituted by governors of the six states in the North-East, revealed that corps members’ potential is very strategic to the power project.
The leader of the delegation, Mijinyawa Yahaya, representing Gombe State stated this when he led other members of the group on a courtesy visit to the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim in his office in Abuja.
Other members of the delegation are Stephen Abubakar (Bauchi State); Bukar Buni (Yobe State); Ibrahim Njidda (Borno State); Mr John Yarafa (Taraba State); Babayola Toungo (Adamawa State) and the Managing Director, Hypertech, Mustapha Muhammed. ....

Owolowo inaugurates officers as Oyo gov pledges support for trade groups

The Oyo State governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, has said that the state governor will continue to partner with trade groups for businesses to thrive in the state.
Makinde stated this through his Special Adviser on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Kunle Yusuf, during the inauguration of the new executive of the Owolowo Unit of the National Association of Cattle Breeders and Dealers, Oyo State, recently.
The governor also promised to continue to support trade associations with loans and making policies that would make it easier for them to conduct their businesses with ease.

The Ekiti State governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has admonished the new Obalaaye of Ejiyan-Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area of the state, Oba Adekunle Adesesan Adepoju, to see his ascension to the throne as a divine call to service.
Fayemi, who made the call while presenting the staff of office and instrument of appointment to Oba Adepoju urged members of the community to live in peace with the neighbouring communities of Ipoti-Ekiti and Owatedo-Ekiti. ....

New CP declares war on kidnappers, robbers, cultists in Rivers

The new Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Eboka Friday, has declared war on kidnappers, armed robbers and cultists operating in the state.
Eboka said this on Tuesday during his maiden press briefing at the Police Officers Mess, Port Harcourt, the state capital, even as the police said it is yet to establish contact with kidnappers of a traditional ruler, the Okanama of Ikuru town, Dr Aaron Ikuru, who was kidnapped on Sunday night.
Eboka, who has determined to flush out all forms of criminality in the state, said that in synergy with other agencies, he will battle heinous crimes and make the state a habitable area and place for genuine businesses to thrive. ....
