Vacaville council contributes $35,000 toward senior meals program
VACAVILLE More than 5,500 hot meals have been distributed to Vacaville seniors through a program funded in part by the city.
That effort will continue through June with a $35,000 general fund contribution by Vacaville approved recently by the City Council.
The city also has allocated $27,600 in CARES Act funding to the program since it started in April.
Eighteen local restaurants have participated in the Senior Hot Meals Program. More than 50 residents per week have benefitted.
The program was initiated by the McBride Senior Center staff when the Covid-19 pandemic began shutting down traditional programs in March. ....
