Former Transnet CFO Anoj Singh appeared to get emotional at the state capture inquiry 10 minutes before the lunch break on Friday.
Singh was being grilled on the testimony of “witness 3”, who claimed to have seen him visiting the Gupta family residence and the Knox Vaults.
Singh said the evidence from this witness was total fabrication as he had never driven Singh to the Gupta compound. He also denied ever receiving large sums of money from the Guptas.
His former driver and protector had also testified that Singh, during a Transnet strategy session at Three Rivers Lodge, had received a bag with money from Chinese men.

Johannesburg - Former Transnet group chief financial officer (GCFO) Anoj Singh has denied allegations that Asian businessmen – who were allegedly awarded multibillion contracts at the freight rail agency – paid him kickbacks in cash loaded in a luxury suitcase.
Singh made the denial on Friday at the commission of inquiry into allegations of state capture hearings following the testimony of his driver who allegedly loaded the cash into Transnet’s official vehicle in July 2014.
In August last year, Witness 3 – whose identity could not be revealed for his safety – testified about seeing four Asian men at Three Rivers Lodge in Vereeniging, a venue where senior Transnet executives including former group chief executive officer Brian Molefe had a week-long strategic planning session.

JOHANNESBURG - Former Transnet CEO Brian Molefe has told the state capture inquiry he never met Chinese men in Vereeniging, and he didn’t get money from them in a black suitcase.
Molefe has on Wednesday concluded another session at the state capture commission but he is expected to return later on.
‘Witness three’ a protector for former CFO Anoj Singh, said he collected a maroon bag for Singh that he later found out contained R200 notes and Molefe’s protector also took a black bag but Molefe said that was not true.
