Three CQ racing participants guilty of misconduct

Three Central Queensland racing participants have been banned for misconduct by the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission.
Jockeys Chris McIver and Nigel Seymour have each copped lengthy bans, while stablehand Nick Trimble has also been disqualified.
McIver was disqualified for 12 months after kicking a horse at the barriers before a race in Rockhampton last month.

McIver was found guilty of misconduct after he twice forcibly stomped on the hindquarter of his mount Or Else.
QRIC chief thoroughbred steward Peter Chadwick said breaches of this kind were very serious and any behaviour involving the mistreatment of a thoroughbred racehorse must meet with a significant penalty. ....

Meet three CQ students in line for a top resources honour


The winner of the Exceptional Female QMEA Student Award will be announced in front of an expected 1000-strong crowd at the QRC/Women in Mining and Resources Queensland (WIMARQ) awards at an International Women’s Day breakfast in Brisbane on 10 March.
Caitlin Boothby from Biloela State High School, Chloe Coombe from The Cathedral College in Rockhampton and Charlise Falconer from Gladstone s Chanel College will vie for the honour of being recognised as exceptional among their peers.
QRC chief executive Ian Macfarlane said the future had never been brighter for women who
