MANDAN, N.D. (AP) The driver of a van involved in a crash that killed a Mandan woman and seriously injured two others is facing criminal charges.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the 23-year-old driver failed to yield the right of way before crossing Memorial Highway at an intersection in Mandan Thursday afternoon.
A pickup truck struck the passenger side of the van killing 42-year-old Heather Robbins, who was pronounced dead at a Bismarck hospital.
The patrol said the van driver fled from the scene, but was later apprehended. According to court records, he faces felony charges of leaving the scene of an accident involving a death, three counts of leaving the scene of an accident that involved injury, as well misdemeanors charges of aggravated reckless driving and driving with a suspended license, the Bismarck Tribune reported. ....

GEORGE NEWS - A 16-year old boy, believed to be from Cape Town, sustained serious injuries when he was hit by a concrete bollard that was dislodged when a speeding vehicle crashed into it at Victoria Bay on Thursday 29 April.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies, the vehicle apparently experienced mechanical difficulties coming down the hill towards the parking lot, and the driver lost control and collided with concrete bollards at the bottom of the road.
The exact cause of the accident is however still to be confirmed.
One of the bollards hit the child, Spies said. ....
