Two Brothers Stab Elderly Uncle In Poonch Over Land Dispute
SRINAGAR: Two brothers allegedly stabbed a man, their maternal uncle, with knife over a land dispute in Poonch district on Saturday, officials said.
They said that police received information that at around 1120 hours that one person namely Haji Mohammad Iqbal (60) son of Jaan Mohammad was stabbed with a knife by two brothers over a land dispute at their native village, Gohlad Qasim Nagar.
The man was shifted to SDH Mendhar wherefrom he was shifted to GMC Rajouri, BMO Mendhar Dr P A Khan said.
Station House Officer Mendhar Manzoor Kohli told news agency GNS that a case (FIR No. 45/2021) under section 307, 34, 452, 323 IPC has been registered and further investigation is going on. He identified the accused brothers as Umar Shahban (20/22) and Qamar Shahbaz (27/28) sons of Mohammad Iliyaz. Sources said that the injured person is the maternal uncle of the accused siblings. ....

Forces Destroy IED 'Planted' On Gohlad-Mendhar Road

SRINAGAR: Forces on Sunday destroyed an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that was recovered on Gohlad-Mendhar road in this border sub-division.
An official told the news agency KNO that the device was recovered during night patrol by a team of police headed by SHO Mendhar Manzoor Kohli under the supervision of SDPO Mendhar Zaheer Jafri.
He said that the police team found the IED on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, following which an alert was issued.
He said that the Army’s bomb disposal squad also reached there on today morning.
“After proper examination and area clearance, the IED was destroyed in the afternoon,” he said. ....
