July 29, 2021 Stocks slumped on Wednesday as a monetary policy status quo rally was reversed by renewed scares of economic restrictions as the new Covid variants were reported on the rise in the country, traders said. Pakistan Stock Exchange s (PSX) benchmark KSE-100 Share Index lost 368.96 points or 0.77 percent to close at 47,318.03 points printing a day high of 47,874.69 points and a low of 47,244.21 points. Muhammad Arbash, an analyst at Topline Securities, said the day opened on a positive note as central kept the policy rate unchanged. However, in the second half the market witnessed profit-taking as investors were worried over rising Covid cases, Khan said. ....

Pakistan Stock Exchange s (PSX) benchmark KSE 100-share Index gave up 116.37 points or 0.24 percent to close at 47,447.08 points, hitting a day high and a low of 47,715.28 points and 47,408.52 points, respectively. Zafar Moti, former director PSX, said the market had slowed down and volumes were shrinking. “People are downsizing themselves because of the Sacrificial Eid. Afghanistan issue and political noise was also there.” “Next week is off and the market is unlikely to gather any momentum this week and may remain directionless until Eid holidays are over,” Moti said. ....

Business May 27, 2021 Stocks on Wednesday ended higher on renewed economic hopes, hitting the highest ever turnover of 1.56 billion shares, led by Worldcall Telecom Ltd (WTL) that claimed the lion’s share of trade with 708 million shares, dealers said. Pakistan Stock Exchange’s (PSX) KSE-100 Shares Index gained 1.11 percent or 511.65 points to close at 46,812.31 points. Analyst Muhammad Abdul Rafay at Pearl Securities said the benchmark index witnessed a gigantic session registering highest volumes in the history of PSX, where most of the 3rd tier stocks closed at upper circuit breakers including WTL, Hum Network and Pakistan International Airline (PIA). “Optimism was triggered by the government s projection of even better economic numbers for 4QFY21. Also, investors took cue from the improving fundamentals of business and industrial activities, which further supported the sentiment.” ....
