Kingsville cat leaps to safety after two-day stay on top of pole

Kingsville cat leaps to safety after two-day stay on top of pole
Candice Ariella took to Facebook Tuesday night to draw attention to an orange cat she saw stuck atop a pole in Kingsville.
Ariella said in the post the cat had been sitting on the pole  which by some estimates is about 30 feet tall for at least two days. When she called the Kingsville Police Department, she was told nothing could be done.
Despite what the police told Ariella, she continued to post updates on Facebook and seek help in any way she could.
As the news of the cat continued to spread, Kingsville City Commissioner Ana Marie Torres came across the news and spoke to City Manager Mark McLaughlin about what could be done.  ....

Bills would make 3% BPT permanent for small businesses
Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero announced at her State of the Island Address Monday that she’d sign a bill removing the sunset provision on a law temporarily reducing business privilege tax for small businesses.
Senators on both sides of the aisle on Tuesday presented two separate measures seeking to make the business privilege tax rate for small businesses 3%.
Sens. James Moylan, Tony Ada and Chris Duenas introduced Bill 72. Vice Speaker Tina Muña Barnes and Sens. Joe San Agustin, Jose Pedo Terlaje, Clynt Ridgell and Mary Torres introduced Bill 74.
Last year, senators passed a temporary exemption for small businesses. Business that make more than $50,000 and less than $250,000 could waive payment of the 3% business privilege tax. For businesses that make more than $250,000 but less than $500,000  would pay 3% BPT. It was intended to provide relief during the pandemic and would expire in 2022. ....
