Parents, students adapt to remote learning

Several school divisions across Saskatchewan have moved to online learning for two weeks due to the spread of Covid-19 variants across the province.

For some parents, the change has been difficult with having to balance work on top of watching their kids while others have found it easier.

Father of two daughters, who are in Kindergarten and Grade 1, Tyler Thorn of Moosomin, says that for the first week of online classes, he had to take time off work to watch his daughters.

“I had to skip work this week in the mornings and my wife has to work at the hospital. So she’ll go to work and I stay at home with the girls through their school sessions in the morning, then I drop them off at daycare in the afternoon,” Thorn said. ....

Easter has been around us everywhere in decorations, special serviettes, special meals and lots of treats. Following dinner on Good Friday, we were entertained by a group of adults from our community out on the patio – Terry and Caroline Friesen, Sharon and Lester Thiessen, Alma Friesen, Lorna Raisbeck, and Cheryl, Harold and Amanda Friesen.
Later on, we also had a group of great grandchildren singing many familiar songs for our enjoyment. Thank you so much.
Easter Sunday we were given plastic eggs filled with chocolates and decorated so cutely from the Maryfield United Church Sunday school. Again, we thank you. ....

Visitor limitations in place for healthcare facilities in the southeast

Level 3 family presence means that two family/support members can be present at the same time for end-of-life care only. One essential family/support person can be designated to assist with care if needed (self-care, mobility, nutrition and behavioural needs).
Additional family presence can be supported for the specific circumstances, including critical care, intensive care, maternal, postpartum or pediatric units.
No other visitors are allowed into the specified facilities or homes at this time. The SHA says these limitations will remain in place until it is safe to return to the previous level of family presence and will be reviewed in two weeks. ....

Due to current government guidelines regarding public gatherings, a private family funeral will take place. Those who would have liked to attend the funeral, but due to current restrictions cannot, please feel free to leave a message in the condolence page below.
