Dialysis patients who have been going to the University of Alberta Hospital outpatient unit can now get dialysis outside the hospital in a new community facility.
A procedure that diverts blood out of your body into a machine that filters out waste and extra fluid, dialysis pumps filtered blood back into the body. It’s sometimes necessary to treat acute renal failure, when the kidneys lose their ability to filter and remove waste and extra fluid.
