West Bengal Government Orders Schools Closure From Tomorrow

New Delhi:
In view of the COVID-19 surge in Bengal, the state government has brought forward summer vacations in all schools in the state and ordered them shut from tomorrow, April 20.
Summer vacation for government schools was scheduled to begin on May 7. Since mid-February, students of Classes 10, 12 and teachers were attending the schools.
From tomorrow, schools will stay shut. Any preparations for the board exams will be done online, if needed. Class 10 boards in Bengal are due on 1st June and class 12 from June 15.
Physical classes for all the students were canceled last year due to the onslaught of coronavirus and learning continued online. From February 12, schools in West Bengal had reopened after a gap of 11 months. ....

West Bengal schools to conduct annual exams for classes 9, 11 offline, says no to online exams

Schools in West Bengal have decided to conduct the annual examinations in offline mode for both classes 9 and 11 after physical classes resumed from February 12 onwards.

West Bengal schools have decided to conduct offline annual examinations for classes 9 and 11 for the academic year 2020-21. Despite receiving emails and calls from parents to conduct exams online, the schools have said no to exams in online mode as most schools have started to conduct physical classes in the state from February 12 onwards for classes 9 to 12.
Schools felt that many students took unfair means while appearing for online examinations and also kids have lost the habit of writing for two to three hours. As per the TOI report, about 60 percent of classes 9 and 11 students at DPS Ruby Park staged on protest on Friday. A pa ....

The decision to reopen schools was taken by the state government keeping under consideration the upcoming Board exams.
