Taos Post Season Policy: Uphill skiing/riding is only allowed beginning three days after the announced last day of winter ski area operations and ending on May 15th, when the Summer Operations Plan takes into effect. During this time the New Mexico Ski Safety Act duties of ski area operators will not apply to the skiing area or any persons skiing/riding on the terrain. All such skiers/riders will legally assume all risks of injury or death while participating, including avalanche risk and all inherent risks such as, but not limited to, snow conditions, terrain, trees, natural and man-made objects, variations in terrain and the operation of ski area vehicles such as, but not limited to snowcats, snowmobiles, trucks, and other vehicles. I have many fond memories of skiing on the seemingly impossibly steep slopes during the day and sledding on Ernie Blake Road in the evenings, sneaking into the Thunderbird Lodge to play ping pong, or onto the packed dance floor at the St. Bernard as the clocks chimed midnight. ....
