Dave Zajac, Record-Journal May 13, 2021 12:47PM By Michael Gagne, Record-Journal staff MERIDEN â Officials have revised their fiscal 2022 city budget request, citing projected increases in state revenues and some reduced expenses. City Manager Timothy Coon and Finance Director Kevin McNabola discussed the revised figures with the City Councilâs finance committee during a remote meeting Tuesday night. The pair told committee members and Mayor Kevin Scarpati that with the changes in revenue a 1% increase in the cityâs mill rate would be needed to fund the revised budget request of just over $203.3 million. ....

(Dave Zajac/Record-Journal) February 24, 2021 04:15PM By Michael Gagne, Record-Journal staff MERIDEN â City Council finance committee members had few questions for city officials before voting unanimously to refer a requested $66,325.48 transfer for the purchase of new computer servers for the police department. The request, if approved by the City Council, would transfer the funds from the cityâs contingency fund balance to capital equipment. City Manager Timothy Coon, prior to the committeeâs vote, described the purchase as âcritical.â Charles Carrozza, the cityâs director of information technology, said the existing servers are seven years old, dating back to 2014. ....
