Pakistan: Fortnightly drought watch bulletin (1 - 15 July, 2021) Format 1. Weather Summary for the 1 st fortnight of July 2021 During the first fortnight of July 2021, Rain bearing systems produced moderate to high amount of rainfall at isolated places in the Upper Punjab, Upper KP and AJK region while Sindh, Balochistan also received good amount of rainfall. Spatial distribution is shown in Figure No.1. The chief amounts of rainfall recorded across Pakistan during the period 1-15 July, 2021 are shown in Table-1 below; Figure 2 depicts the Percentage Departure of Rainfall from the normal. Presently, normal to below normal rainfall was received across whole Punjab, KP, Gilgit Baltistan and Sindh except few stations, whereas, lower parts of sindh, coastal belt and most parts of balochistan received above normal rainfall. Farmers are advised to keep themselves abreast of weather updates and plan field activities accordingly to minimize weather induced losses to mature ....

1,569 Kashmir refugees of Multan to cast votes in polls July 6, 2021 MULTAN: Some 1,569 refugees of Kashmir residing in Multan will cast their votes in the upcoming elections in Azad Kashmir. Arrangements have been made to establish polling stations in Multan for the purpose. The city district administration held a special meeting for the arrangements and setting up polling stations in Jultan on Monday, officials said. Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ali Shehzad said four polling stations would be set up in Multan for Kashmiri refugees. He directed that all measures should be taken to make the elections transparent. The foolproof security would be provided to candidates to ensure elections in a peaceful environment inside the polling station. The traffic police would be deployed outside the polling stations for parking arrangements. ....

Rain, thunderstorm disrupt power supply Lahore LAHORE:A major localised power breakdown hit provincial metropolitan on Sunday evening following rain and thunderstorm. Many Lahorites have to break their fast amid blackout following an intense rain spell coupled with thunderstorm. Power supply from more than 100 feeders has been affected due to strong winds and rains in the district. The prolonged power failures at many localities also resulted in water shortage, making life even harder. Scattered rain with hailstorm at various places was witnessed. The areas where hailstorm was witnessed included Johar Town, Township, Model town, Faisal Town, Rajgarh etc. Following the rain and hailstorm the temperature came down relieving the citizens from rising temperature. ....
