Luke Barrett has been re-appointed as manager of Donegal’s minor football team for 2021.
The interview process was conducted by Donegal’s Coaching Games Development Manager, Aaron Kyles; Head of Academy Development, Karl Lacey; and Athletic Performance Consultant Micheál Cahill.
Barrett was in charge of the Donegal Minors last season, but they endured a disrupted campaign, before losing by a point against Tyrone in the Ulster Minor Championship quarter-final in December.
Due to Covid-19, the new group of minors only got to play one game in the Buncrana Cup (Ulster Under 16 level) last year. The GAA have yet to confirm when the Minor Championships will be held in 2021. ....

One of the positives that has come out of the Covid-19 pandemic has been the surge in community spirit. We have seen so many examples of people going out of their way to help, raise funds or simply check up on the people in their area.
Young people have been so badly affected by this pandemic, yet on so many occasions since March, they have led the way in showing examples of compassion and how to care for others.
With the GAA Minor Championships put on hold, young players across the country put their energy to incredibly good use to help others during lockdown. To honour this, a new awards programme has been set up to recognise the incredible work achieved by young players off the field efforts in 2020. ....

The winners of the 2020 Electric Ireland GAA Minor Special Recognition Awards, which sees Minors from all four provinces of Ireland being honoured for their outstanding off-the-pitch contributions in their communities during 2020, have been unveiled. 
Having missed out on a host of coming-of-age moments over the past 11 months, including the culmination of the Minor Championships, these unique Electric Ireland GAA awards have taken into consideration the difficulties experienced in 2020 by players and communities across the country, and aim to bring a major moment back into the lives of this age group. The awards were judged by All-Ireland winning Tyrone ....
