The Guinea Fowl Meat Being is rich in vitamins and low in cholesterol and thus is valued by people for its taste and nutritional value. The birds are also eco-friendly and helpful in pest, worm and insect control. They provide manure for the field & are seasonal layers with average egg production of 90 - 110 eggs from March to September. The seasonality of reproduction or egg production is, thus, a major problem limiting its egg production and obstructing the large-scale commercial production of Guinea Fowl. ....

NEW DELHI: Bird flu cases have been reported in several states across India severely impacting winged populations
Union animal husbandry and dairying minister Giriraj Singh on Monday urged people to not pay heed to rumours about bird flu.
He said there is no risk to humans if the animal or poultry products are cooked properly before consuming.
Cases of bird flu have been confirmed by Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Delhi in the county.
The ministry on Sunday said that the central teams formed for monitoring the spread of bird flu are visiting the affected sites. ....

The Kanpur Zoological Park has been closed for visitors till further orders after samples taken from two dead birds found there tested positive for the avian influenza virus, an official said on Sunday.
The area up to one kilometre of the zoo has been declared an infected zone and the culling of birds has begun there, said Additional District Magistrate (City) Atul Kumar.
Four fowls and two parrots were found dead in the zoo in the last five days. Of these, two birds tested positive, Kumar said. ....

New Delhi: A bird-flu outbreak has been confirmed in nine of India’s states, even as new bird deaths have been reported from various parts of the country in the last day.
The outbreak has been confirmed in Maharashtra, Delhi, Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. ....

Bird-flu outbreak confirmed in 7 states, fresh avian deaths reported


A bird-flu outbreak has been confirmed in seven states, the Centre said on Sunday even as fresh avian deaths were reported from various parts of the country.
The outbreak has been confirmed in Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, while the test results are awaited for the samples collected from Delhi and Maharashtra.
The samples collected from Chhattisgarh s Balod have tested negative for the avian influenza virus, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying said in a statement.
The government has also directed zoo managements to submit daily reports to the Central Zoo Authority (CZA) till their area is declared free from the disease. ....
