In news that is sure to be greeted warmly around the country, Croke Park have informed counties that inter-county Minor and U20 teams can resume full contact training from next Monday, May 10.
There has been some concern raised in recent weeks that the U20 & Minor grades were not included in the initial roadmap for the return of inter-country games, particularly with a number of games still to be played in last year’s Minor championship.
However, Croke Park informed County Boards on Wednesday that full-contact training can resume from Monday next with games in the grades allowed from Monday, June 7, while the Central Competitions Control Committee will publish a schedule in the coming days to complete the outstanding 2020 games as well as dates for the 2021 competitions. ....

Inter-county minor and under-20 players can resume training from next Monday 10th May.
Doubts were cast over the age grades but the Central Competitions Control Committee will now publish its fixture list for minor and under-20 championships in the coming days.
The schedule will include both the completion of 2020 competitions and dates for 2021 inter-county competitions at the respective levels.
Matches in those age grades will be permitted from June 7th.
The Ulster Minor Football Championship was one of the competitions from last year which still has to be completed.
Tyrone and Derry have to meet at the semi final stage while Fermanagh and Monaghan are due to face off in the other semi. ....

GAA clubs, players and supporters will today be anxiously awaiting news from Croke Park with reports that the organisation is expected to reveal its roadmap for the 2021 season either today or tomorrow.
The GAA’s Covid-19 advisory group, Central Competitions Control Committee and Management Committee are all involved in the formalisation process.
It’s expected that the new inter-county season will get things up and running and the 2021 Allianz Leagues in both football and hurling could commence in early May. ....

GAA president Larry McCarthy admits that the latest breach of intercounty training protocols has done the Association some reputational damage but says they will work hard to restore confidence from people.
Monaghan GAA suspended senior football manager Seamus McEnaney on Thursday, after confirming a breach of Covid-19 guidelines.
This followed a breach of guidelines by the Dublin footballers recently and before that Cork and Down footballers.
It was reported this morning that the GAA were investigating footage of the Monaghan senior squad collectively training, which was in breach of both government and GAA regulations. ....
