18 April,
2021
The Robinhood Stars cemented their status as a
team to watch this season with a maiden ANZ Premiership win
over Te Wānanga o Raukawa Pulse to open their 2021

start to finish and showing patience to shake off a
determined Pulse.
But the Pulse, without Silver Fern
Ameliaranne Ekenasio and introducing a number of new
combinations, showed they are not about to relinquish their
title without a fight pushing hard until the final ....

The team has a new coach, four new players and will be without their star goal attack, Silver Ferns captain Ameliaranne Ekenasio for the foreseable future as she takes time away from the game due to exhaustion.
Ekenasio missed last month s pre-season tournament and had not been training with the Pulse ahead of the season opener.
Pulse CEO Fran Scholey said the past 18 months had taken a toll on Ekenasio.
After a distrupted 2020 premiership season predominantly based out of Auckland, Pulse captain Claire Kersten has learned not to look too far ahead.
While we look like we ve got a really normal season at this stage, that s not necessairly guarunteed 17 weeks is a long time, Kersten said. ....

ANZ Premiership: Spotlight shines brightly on Australian netball legend Caitlin Bassett with Magic

Australian shooting great Caitlin Bassett brings star-power to the ANZ Premiership with the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic.
The fifth edition of the ANZ Premiership begins next Sunday with the two-time defending champion Pulse getting the competition started against the new look Northern Stars, who have recruited strongly. BRENDON EGAN looks at five players, who will be under the spotlight this season and must shine for their teams.
CAITLIN BASSETT (MAGIC)
All eyes will be on Australian legend Bassett when she makes her premiership debut for the Magic against the Mystics next Monday. The 102-cap test veteran will play under traditional netball rules in New Zealand after she was effectively forced out of Australia s Super Netball due to the controversial ‘super shot’ two-point rule. If Bassett wants to feature for Australia at next year’s Commonwealth Games, she’ll need to regain top form for the Magic. Bassett lost her Australian starting goal shoot role to Cara ....
