No barter boats allowedduring lockdown

KOTA KINABALU: Barter trade boats between Sabah and neighbouring southern Philippines and Indonesia will not be allowed to operate during the two-week lockdown that begins today.
State Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said that barter trade vessels (non-conventional ships) would not be able to leave or come to Sabah under the standard operating procedure for the movement control order.
He said Indonesian transport vessels bringing in fishery products to Sabah’s Tawau district will also be disallowed.
“Non-conventional ships from the Philippines that pass through Sabah waters to the Federal Territory of Labuan are also not allowed, ” he said in a statement. ....

Penang MCA wants state govt to call off water rate hike

GEORGE TOWN: Penang MCA urges the state government to withdraw its proposal to the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) for a water tariff increase.
State MCA liaison committee secretary Yeoh Chin Kah said the state government should help the people through difficult times during the Covid-19 pandemic instead of proposing substantial adjustments to the water tariff.
“Covid-19 is becoming more and more serious in our country, but the Penang Water Supply Corporation applied to SPAN to increase the water tariff, which will put a heavy burden on the people.
“The state government must withdraw its proposal to adjust water rates as soon as possible to avoid further burdening Penangites. ....
