Winnipeg Police Service Chief Danny Smyth’s total remuneration for 2020 was $291,834.
On Tuesday, the City released its 2020 Public Compensation Disclosure as per the Provincial Public Sector Compensation Disclosure Act. Smyth’s total compensation, the highest of all Winnipeg public servants, may or may not include any combination of salary and taxable benefits, overtime, retroactive pay adjustments, retirement allowance, sick pay cash out, vacation pay cash out, or back pay.

On Friday, the province announced first responders and people with front-line, public-facing roles will soon eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
While exact details were scarce, Bobby Baker, the National Police Federation director for the Prairies, said the union was thankful for the move. The union represents approximately 1,000 RCMP officers in the province. ....

Firefighters, police officers, and more are next in line for the COVID-19 vaccine, with many others waiting in the wings.
Starting as soon as next week, more details will be revealed as to how front-line workers can get a COVID-19 vaccine. Dr. Joss Reimer, co-lead of the COVID-19 Immunization Task Force, says these positions have not yet been determined.
Our team is working on more detailed plans to support this work so we can align these groups with what vaccine is available, Reimer says in a Friday briefing.
This will include people over the age of 18 living in communities where there is more COVID-19 transmission. Specified front-line public-facing jobs will also be included, such as police offices and firefighters. ....

Winnipeg s Mayor is calling on the COVID-19 Immunization Task Force to change its current trajectory.
In a series of three posts Tuesday, Mayor Brian Bowman advocated for three populations, saying he wants them to be prioritized for the COVID-19 vaccine.
Our vaccine strategy needs to change so we can be proactive in preventing COVID transmission to those exposed and for whom we count on during emergencies, he writes in the series.
