Jakarta â The ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) recently held its first virtual Partnership Conference themed âTowards Post-COVID Recovery and Resilience in ASEANâ to strengthen cross-pillar and cross-sectoral coordination among ASEAN, its stakeholders and partners in realising the ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework.
The event attracted 222 delegates, including leaders of ASCC, Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN, representatives of ASEAN sectoral dialogue partners, development partners, UN agencies, international organisations, and the ASEAN Secretariat.

SPREADING at least as quickly as the Covid-19 virus, an “infodemic” has infected large swaths of media and information exchange across the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean). Massive amounts of information, including rumors, mis-information and dis-information have reached millions of people who are hoping to understand how to stay safe until the pandemic has been controlled. High levels of uncertainty are driving people to look for any information about the virus and what to do about it.
Fake news has ranged from misinformation about which tests are needed for proper diagnosis (PCR or antigen) to fear-inducing rumors that motivate people to make the wrong decisions. ....

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, March 9 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Empowering women to participate in growth opportunities will result in accelerated productivity, economic and social development, and other positive development outcomes.
This was said by Permanent Secretary (Community and Culture) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Hajah Nor Ashikin Haji Johari (
pic) in her welcoming speech during the premier forum in conjunction with International Women’s Day Celebration.

Laos continues socio-cultural cooperation with Asean countries

VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN): Laos needs to strengthen capacity building in order to further cooperate with Asean nations, particularly in the area of socio-cultural aspect.
Meanwhile Asean nations need to expand cooperation with countries outside the bloc to ensure the socio-cultural pillar is developed as planned.
Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Savankhone Razmountry highlighted the importance of this pillar for reinforcing Asean cooperation.
The meeting was organised by the Planning and International Cooperation Department of Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism in Vientiane on Wednesday (Dec 23).
