Credit Christine Trudeau / KYUK During their March 9 meeting, Bethel City Council followed up with city administration on a property that it would like to demolish. In February, the City of Bethel initiated the process of removing buildings it had condemned, including the former Yukon Lodge on Brown Slough. City Manager Pete Williams gave an update on the building s removal. The owners have refused to sell the building, so the city will have to begin the legal process of claiming the building in order to demolish it.
“One thing on this abatement of buildings, I ve only been through one of these. And it s a lengthy process, you know, basically taking somebody s property. It s done in most seriousness, and there is nothing quick no matter whose it is,” said Williams ....
