A freight train left Hanoi for Belgium for the first time on Tuesday, carrying containers of garments, textiles and leather shoes.
The new route will take trains between Yen Vien Railway Station in Hanoi and the Belgian city of Liege, where the containers would be unloaded and sent by trucks to the final destination, the Dutch city of Rotterdam, the Vietnam Railways said.
Each train with 23 forty-foot containers will arrive at the Chinese city of Zhengzhou, and be connected to the Asia-Europe train bound for Belgium through Russia and Central Asian countries. A trip will take 25-27 days. ....

Nippon Express China-Vietnam cross border rail freight service launched

KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 (Bernama): The East Asia Region section of Nippon Express Co Ltd has launched a new cross-border rail freight service from Suzhou, China, to Hanoi, Vietnam using international rail lines connecting both countries.
The service departs Suzhou West Railway Station, located amidst the industrial clusters of eastern China, and travels via Nanning South Railway Station to Yen Vien Railway Station (Hanoi).
According to a statement, the use of rail transport makes possible reliable lead times (eight to 10 days) and this eco-friendly transport service also provides customers with a useful BCP option when faced with ship and truck congestion. ....
