Terming it as part of the BJP’s divisive policies, Amarinder said it was an attempt to incite communal hatred ahead of the assembly elections in Punjab. NEW DELHI: Days after the Union jal shakti ministry and the National Mission for Clean Ganga expressed regret over bodies being dumped in the Ganga, UP has deployed police teams to ask people to refrain from water burials. It is also monitoring activities on CCTV. There is apprehension that the bodies were of Covid patients. UP police has pressed into service 34 teams in Ghazipur and Ballia, including at 18 ghats, to keep vigil. The cops can be seen travelling on boats and telling people on public address systems to not immerse dead bodies. State Disaster Relief Force and flood units of PAC are aiding the effort. ....
