Article content A layer of bureaucratic complexity was added to efforts by a local heritage group that is working to keep Locomotive No. 17 in the City of Cornwall. During 2021 budget deliberations, a majority of council voted in favour of gifting the locomotive to the Eastern Ontario Railway Museum in Smiths Falls as well as paying the $50,000 to move it there, using the $100,000 set aside in 2017 for its restoration. In February however, the group appealed to council to reverse its decision. According to group representative Wes Libbey who penned a letter to council the Benson Centre would be the perfect location for the engine. ....
