China reports record May Day railway passenger trips--China Economic Net

Passenger trips on Chinese railways hit a new single-day high Saturday as the May Day holiday kicked off, official data showed.
Nearly 18.83 million passenger trips were made on Saturday, the first day of the five-day holiday, the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. said.
It marked an increase of 9.2 percent from the 2019 level.
The company is expecting about 14.2 million railway passenger trips on Sunday.
May Day, also known as International Workers Day, is observed on May 1 in China. As the holiday lasts from May 1 to 5 this year, many people choose to travel during the holiday.

BEIJING - The daily number of passenger trips within China continued to exceed pre-epidemic levels on Sunday, the second day of the five-day May Day holiday.
There were 14.72 million rail-passenger trips on Sunday, 11.6 percent higher than the same day of the holiday in 2019, said the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., the country s railway operator, on Monday.
On Saturday, the figure was 18.83 million, up 9.2 percent from the 2019 level.
The operator predicted that the figure would reach 13.6 million on Monday, up 2.2 percent from the same period in 2019. ....

NEW DELHI: In a big relief to the people of Delhi, the Indian Railways has said that one Oxygen Express will arrive in the national capital with 120 MT of medical oxygen on Sunday afternoon.
Northern railway spokesperson Deepak Kumar said that one container train with six cryogenic liquid oxygen containers loaded over BLC wagons started from Durgapur to Delhi at 2 p.m. on Saturday and is expected to reach Tughlakabad ICD on Sunday afternoon i.e. at around 1 p.m. ....

The Railways on Sunday said Delhi has received its second “oxygen express” with 120 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen (LMO), while a third has left Angul, Odisha, carrying 30.86 tonnes.
It said it has so far delivered 1,094 tonnes LMO in 74 tankers across the country, including Maharashtra (174 tonnes), Uttar Pradesh (430.51 tonnes), Madhya Pradesh (156.96 tonnes), Delhi (190 tonnes), Haryana (79 tonnes) and Telangana (63.6 tonnes). ....
