Cancelled: 'Music in the Park' hosts Matt Smith

The “Music in the Park” concert featuring Matt Smith, Sunday, July 18, has been cancelled due to inclement weather. The series will return June 25.

“Last Sunday’s spectacular weather brought out a spectacular crowd at the Rockport Parks ‘Music in the Park’ series,” said Rockport Parks Department, in a news release.
This coming Sunday, July 18, will feature an encore performance by local guitarist/vocalist Matt Smith.
“Matt’s first performance was very well received so we look forward to another laid back Sunday afternoon listening to Music in the Park,” said organizers.
Join them Sunday, July 18, at 4 p.m., in Mary Lea Park, next to the Rockport Opera house. Bring a blanket or chair and prepare to be entertained. ....

Volunteers cultivate finishing touches on Rockport's Memorial Park

Members of the Rockport Parks and Beautification Committee took to Memorial Park in mid-May to spread three yards of mulch throughout the garden beds.
The group consisted of of Doug and Pat Cole, Sally Cook, Jan Baldwin, Paula Coyne, Denise Munger and Haunani Wallace, all who spent the better part of two hours completing the task.
Meanwhile, Lea Anne Dunton was studying the remaining area to be landscaped at the Rockport Public Library, laying out the design for the plants the town is purchasing. Those, too, will need to be planted by volunteers.
The Park was redesigned by the committee after it was used as a staging area for the construction of the new library. The Select Board tasked the committee members with restoring it back to its original state, or an improved state. ....

ROCKPORT The Town of Rockport has created a Community Garden at the Marge Jones Facility, which is centrally located and already a hub for outdoor activities. It is currently unused and is planted with grass, which needs to be mowed.
There is very convenient parking and water supply for the area, according to the Town, in a news release. The use of this area as a community garden would not interfere with any of the other currently existing activities. ....
