After being postponed in February due to statewide COVID-19 restrictions, the Powercor Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic will be back on the road on Saturday May 1.
The new date sees the historic race slot in between other races within the ‘Classics season’ that form part of the National Road Series, namely the Tour de Brisbane (April 11) and the Grafton to Inverell (May 8).
A strong field of riders is set to compete, including defending champions Matilda Raynolds and Brendan Johnston plus likely Olympics competitors Luke Plapp, Kelland O’Brien, Sam Welsford and Leigh Howard. ....

Police at Warrnambool intercepted a black Ford Territory after they observed it travelling very slowly as it drove along Raglan Parade just before 12.30am this morning.
The driver, a 25-year-old Warrnambool man, who held a P2 probationary licence, returned an alleged positive evidentiary breath test of .092.
His license was immediately suspended, and he will be summonsed to appear at court at a later date for drink driving and other licence condition offences.
