Rims gives 2 bodies, dissection begins at new Palamu med college | Ranchi News

Daltonganj: Students of the maiden session of Medinirai Medical College Palamu (MMC-P) at Pokhraha Khurd can finally begin their dissection classes after the college managed to get two dead bodies from Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims), principal Jyoti Ranjan Prasad said.
The students lost a year of learning from the vital practical class due to lack of dead bodies as the construction agency who built the medical college was delaying the construction of a formalin tank to preserve dead bodies.
MMC-P was one among the three (Hazaribag and Dumka being the other two) medical colleges started in November 2019.
Prasad said, “Our college has finally got two male bodies for students to dissect from Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims), Ranchi. Medicos will now able to attend practical classes.” ....

Ranchi: For the first time after the Bihar assembly election, RJD working president Tejashwi Yadav met his ailing father and party president Lalu Prasad at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) here on Saturday.
Talking to media persons outside the hospital after meeting his father, the leader of opposition in the Bihar assembly expressed concern over Lalu’s health and criticised the BJP-led government at the Centre over various issues, particularly the new farm laws and the minimum support prices to the farmers.
He said, “I have met my father after a gap of around five months and we are all very concerned about his health. His kidney is functioning at 25% which is alarming. We are not only in touch with the Rims doctors but also with specialists of AIIMS in Delhi and other institutions. A request has been made to them to visit here and conduct check-ups of my father. There is a need for precaution to prevent his health from deteriorating.” ....

RANCHI: As the state health department is gearing up to launch a drive for Covid-19 vaccination once it is launched by the Centre, experts in the field of infectious diseases management said a serosurvey can help the administration plan a strategy to identify priority zones for the jabs.
Serosruveillance provides an estimate of the levels of antibodies in blood which safeguards the human body against infectious diseases and is considered the gold standard for measuring a population’s immunity following past infections or vaccinations. It is an important component of disease surveillance and complements notification, hospitalisation, mortality and immunisation coverage data. ....

Jharkhand positivity rate plummets, but Ranchi remains vulnerable | Ranchi News

Ranchi: While Jharkhand has managed to control the spread of Covid-19 at the onset of winter as far as positivity rate is concerned, the situation in the state capital Ranchi is yet to show any significant sign of improvement. Despite the festivals and marriage season, the statewide positivity rate has remained under 1% through December, but the figure for Ranchi has not fallen and new cases are being reported in large numbers.
On Wednesday, 97 more than 50% of the 191 new infections reported in the state were from Ranchi alone. According to the Covid bulletin issued by the district administration, the positivity rate for the district on Wednesday stood at 3.71%, more than five times the 0.7% figure for the entire state. Ranchi also accounts for 768 of the 1,739 active cases in Jharkhand. ....
