JAIPUR/KOTA: Lightning claimed at least 19 lives across the state on Sunday, including 11 in Jaipur, as the southwest monsoon entered Jaipur, Dholpur, Kota and Jhalawar districts almost three weeks after arriving in Rajasthan on June 18. At least 17 people were injured across the state in rain-related incidents.
Eleven persons were killed and 12 others injured near Amber fort when lightning struck them on Sunday evening. Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police immediately swung into action and rushed the injured to the hospital. “So far, 11 persons have been killed in the lightning incident at Amber fort. Majority of the victims are local residents. Also 12 people have been injured. They were sent to the trauma wing of the SMS Hospital,” said city police commissioner Anand Srivastav to TOI. ....

Cyclone Tauktae impact: Heavy rains likely in Jaipur, 7 districts of Rajasthan today
Seven districts of Rajasthan are likely to bear the brunt of Cyclone Tauktae and will likely see heavy rainfall on Wednesday. These districts are Jalore, Sirohi, Udaipur, Pali, Dungarpur, Chittorgarh and Rajsamand in the southern part of the state.

The cyclonic storm Tauktae could cause heavy rains in seven districts of Rajasthan on May 19, weather officials said on Tuesday.
The cyclone, expected to enter the state by late Tuesday night, will weaken by May 20, said Radhey Shyam Sharma, regional director of the meteorological department. ....

Indian media fraternity sets to bid farewell to the Covid-19 pandemic year 2020 with the horrible statistics of journo-killings with some dangerous countries for working journalists in the world. The largest democracy in the globe witnessed killings of 15 scribes till the last week of December and the populous country also lost over 50 working journalists to novel coronavirus infection aggravated ailments.
India along with Mexico emerged as the hazardous places for scribe this year as the global tally of media-victims to assailants reaches to 92 in 31 countries, said Press Emblem Campaign (PEC), the Geneva-based media watchdog in its recent reports. Patna, Dec 30 : Health services continued to be affected in Bihar as the junior doctors strike entered the eighth day on Wednesday.
Around 1,500 junior doctors of the state s prominent government medical colleges and hospitals went on a strike on December 23 over their demand to increase the monthly stipend.
Doctors of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Science (IGIMS) have also been protesting for raising their stipends.
