Just as Karina “Kari” Elizondo edged out Ricardo “Rick” Gonzalez by close to 20% percentage points during the general election, she used that lead in efforts to win the runoff election as well for the Laredo College Board of Trustees Place 7 seat.
According to unofficial final results, Elizondo received 65.6% or 6,202 votes and Gonzalez received 34.4 percent or 3,250 votes.
“One word, gratitude,” Elizondo said. “I feel so incredibly humbled by the support from my city and its people.” ....

There is still time to vote on Election Day in the Gateway City as the runoff elections are decided Saturday, Dec. 12.
According to the Webb County Elections Administration and the candidates who are out trying to drum up support for the race, things have been extremely slow with less than 10,000 people expected to have voted during this runoff election. People still have time to hit the polls to decide the races for City Council Districts V, VII and VIII and for the Laredo College Board of Trustees Place 7 as voting ends at 7 p.m. ....
