A Dhaka court today framed charges against Regent Group Chairman Mohammad Shahed and its Managing Director Masud Parvez in a case filed over possessing Tk 1.145 lakh in fake notes in July this year.
Shahed and Masud, now in jail, pleaded not guilty and demanded justice after Judge Md Rabiul Alam of the Third Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge s Court of Dhaka read the charges to them.
The judge set March 15 for starting trial of the case.
On November 3 last year, Mohammad Zakir Hossain, a sub-inspector of Rab-1 and also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate s Court of Dhaka, showing 13 people as prosecution witnesses. ....

Police have pressed charges against Regent Group Chairman Mohammad Shahed in fraud and drug cases filed with Uttara Paschim Police Station in July this year.
Md Ijaj Uddin, an inspector of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and also the investigation officer of the fraud case, submitted a charge sheet against Shahed and four others on December 27.
The fraud case was filed for misappropriating Tk 31,43,500 from a businessman and the drug case was filed against Shahed also in July for possessing five bottles of foreign liquor and 10 bottles of phensidyl. ....

A Dhaka court today again asked Rapid Action Battalion to submit the probe report of a case filed against Regent Group Chairman Mohammad Shahed and 16 others over issuing fake Covid-19 certificates and illegally charging patients for testing and treatment by January 19 next year.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim passed the order after Senior ASP of Rab Md Nazmul Haque, also the investigation officer of the case, failed to submit any report today.
With this, different law enforcement agencies including the Rab took four dates to complete investigation into the case. ....
