Tauktae cyclone will have impact in Mumbai-Goa as storm is moving towards Gujarat

Mumbai: The cyclonic storm, which started with the low pressure area in Lakshadweep in the Arabian Sea, has picked up momentum. The speed is said to be faster in a few hours. In fact, this storm is moving fast towards Gujarat. But just before that, it is going to pass through Maharashtra and Goa. It will reach the Konkan region of Maharashtra in a few hours from now. The storm is said to be passing through the coastal parts of Maharashtra from today till the day after tomorrow (May 15 to 17).
Let us tell you that mumbai is currently cloudy with dark clouds. It has started raining lightly in south Mumbai and suburbs. The control room has become active in 24 wards of Mumbai. Arrangements have been made to take the fishermen of Koliwada on the beach immediately if required. Apart from Mumbai, goa has also started receiving light rain. The NDRF team has been ordered to remain vigilant here. The NDRF team from Pune has reached Goa. ....

Mumbai, May 15 (IANS) As the Cyclone Tauktae whirls towards the Gujarat coast, Maharashtra is preparing to grapple its impact on the coastal Konkan and some interiors which are likely to be affected with heavy rains and gusty winds, officials said here on Saturday.

MUMBAI: With the seasons first cyclone likely to form in the Arabian sea, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast very light rains to be be very likely for Mumbai, Thane and Palghar on May 16, Sunday while Raigad could get thunderstorms with lightning, rains and gusty winds which is not the normal for the month of May.
Cloudy weather meanwhile is likely for the city from Saturday onwards.
IMD said that a low pressure area is very likely to form over southeast Arabian Sea around May 14 morning. This is very likely to concentrate into a Depression over Lakshadweep area and adjoining Southeast and east central Arabian sea by May 15. It is very likely to move north north westwards and intensify further into a cyclonic Storm over east central Arabian sea around May 16 and continue to move north northwest awards for some more time with further intensification, said the IMD in a release. ....
