Phony 911 call got man out of traffic tickets temporarily, but landed him in jail: Secaucus police

A Jersey City man thought he outsmarted Secaucus police when he escaped a traffic stop last week by reporting a bogus armed robbery in the area.
The officers who had pulled over 58-year-old Raymond Meyers at 3:19 a.m. in the area of County Avenue and Secaucus Road on Feb. 18 left him to respond to the reported robbery and Meyers went on his way.
But the long arm of the law caught up with Meyers after an investigation into the false report led police to him as the person who called 911, Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller said. Meyers was later arrested at his home. ....
