Des Moines County Inmate charged for possession of contraband

Burlington, Ia- The Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office has announced a Des Moines County Jail inmate has been charged for possession of contraband in the jail.
According to a news release, on Tuesday a deputy with the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Des Moines County Correctional Center for an inmate having possession of contraband.
Correctional Officers advised they had located a bolt and a pointed weapon in an inmate’s cell. The inmate was identified as 48 year old Raymond Lee Edwards Jr. of Davenport, Ia.
After investigating the incident, Edwards was charged with possessing contraband in a correctional facility. ....

Davenport man arrested for Sexual Abuse

Burlington, Ia- Authorities have announced the arrest of a Davenport man for two counts of sexual abuse.
On March 8, 2021, a deputy with the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office took a report of sexual abuse that occurred in Des Moines County Iowa in 2018 and 2019. The victim, who is a minor, advised the suspect is their uncle, 48-year-old Raymond Lee Edwards Jr. of Davenport. Detectives with the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office investigated the sexual abuse allegations.
On March 26, 2021, arrest warrants were issued for Edwards (above) for two counts of sexual abuse in the 2nd degree. On Saturday, March 27, 2021, at approximately 8:00 p.m. Edwards was located and placed under arrest by the Davenport Police Department for the two arrest warrants. ....
