The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) declared Monday that the COVID-19 outbreak at the Rosthern Hospital was over.
The SHA initially declared the outbreak was active on Jan. 22 after several COVID-19 cases were linked to the facility.
New admissions are now once again being accepted, but visitor restrictions remain in effect. All patients and residents can designate one essential family or support person to provide in-person support for care or quality of life needs. ....

The Saskatchewan Health Authority says a weeks-long COVID-19 outbreak that forced Rosthern Hospital to suspend inpatient admissions has finally ended.
The outbreak was first declared in the hospital’s inpatient unit on Jan. 22 after 10 patients and two staff tested positive for the virus.

The hospital put all transfers and admissions on hold as a result of the outbreak and limited visitations to “compassionate reasons,” including palliative or end-of-life care.
The outbreak was determined to be over as of Feb. 8, the SHA said. The facility is now allowing some visitations that were suspended during the outbreak. ....

Latest COVID update Dec. 31: 1 death, 190 new cases; Regina jail has 57 active cases

The number of active COVID-19 cases being reported in Saskatchewan continued to decline Thursday.
The Ministry of Health reported in a media release there were 190 new cases, 439 recoveries and one death. Those figures left the active caseload at 2,699, its lowest level since it was 2,683 on Nov. 23.
It was the third straight report from the provincial government in which the number of active cases had dropped.
A resident of the Saskatoon area who was in the 80-and-over age group and who previously had tested positive became the 155th person in the province to die due to COVID-19 since March.
The individual was the 108th person to die from the virus in Saskatchewan in December. ....
