MUMBAI: Love for the Earth has been the central theme of all of Sony BBC Earth’s programming and marketing initiatives. The channel has always brought stories - in the form of landmark natural history shows like Blue Planet II, Climate Change: The Facts and A Perfect Planet, among others - from around the globe that not only deeply connect the viewers with the natural world but also sensitize them about the importance of sustainability.

Over the last three editions, this pioneering initiative travelled to schools across India and rekindled the joy of being closer to nature through positive, insightful stories that made children feel alive. With kids transitioning to e-learning owing to the pandemic, Sony BBC Earth took quick cognisance of the paradigm shift and revamped its program, offering a completely digitalised experience for its fourth edition.

Rohan Jain found it difficult to take out time to write a novel with a full-time job as a management consultant. “But, I utilised my weekends, took a one-and-a-half month sabbatical from work, and finished the novel in three-four months. At times, I wrote during train rides across Europe, and while having hot chocolate in the cafés of Europe,” says Delhi-based Jain, whose debut novel The Promises We Made released recently. Published by Srishti Publishers & Distributers, the story is set in India and Switzerland and shows how love can happen anytime, anywhere.
“The novel explores love across geographical boundaries and cultures. You will get transported to Europe, living the life of Raj and Sofia, among the other characters with their different cultures and outlook.
