17 SUCs, R&D institutes to be involved in DOST's patent mining program – Manila Bulletin

A total of 17 state universities and colleges (SUCs) and research and development institutes (RDIs) will be involved in the Department of Science and Technology- Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development’s (DOST-PCAARRD) implementation of its patent mining program for selected agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources (AANR) commodities.

The DOST-PCAARRD said the program seeks “to influence changes in research and development (R&D) as well as technology transfer prioritization” in the AANR sector.
The participating SUCs and RDIs were also part of the two batches of the Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management (IP-TBM) program, it noted. The DOST-PCAARRD also supported the IP-TBM program. ....

DOST-FPRDI calls on owners of forest products business to explore technology business incubation program

“We are encouraging start-ups or small wood and non-wood forest products enterprises to check out DOST-FPRDI’s TBI. The institute will be glad to assist you in moving your business to the next level,” DOST-FPRDI Director Dr. Romulo T. Aggangan said in a statement, after the DOST-FPRDI and the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) inked a memorandum of agreement on TBIs Co-Incubation with the Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU), Laguna-based Adoress Farm on January 26.
According to Aggangan co-incubation initiative is an “excellent pathway for State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Research & Development Institutes to commercialize their technologies and collaborate in research and product development.” ....

Under the PCAARRD Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubation (ATBI) Program, three licensing agreements were signed and issued with Fairness Opinion Report.
The Isabela State University (ISU) signed two licensing agreements with DV Boer Farm to commercialize Chevon Valley and SemEx.
Chevon Valley is a line of native dishes applied with the university’s goat processing, product storage and stability, and canning technologies. SemEx is an artificial insemination technology used to prolong the life span of buck’s sperm cells for animal breeding. ....

TAU and LSPU have formalized ties with Searca on areas of mutual interest such as education, research and training while BatStateU agreed to cooperate in the same areas with special focus on innovative agricultural technologies, agribusiness incubation and technology transfer.
Under the partnership, a five-year memoranda of understanding (MoU) was signed by Glenn Gregorio, Searca director; Max Guillermo, TAU president; Mario R. Briones, LSPU president; and Tirso Ronquillo, BatStateU president.
“Searca’s collaboration with agricultural universities is part of its strategy to harness academe-industry-government interconnectivity to revitalize the agriculture sector in the country,” Gregorio said. ....
