JAMMU, July 28: Jammu and Kashmir today became the first Union Territory in the country to have two benches of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) with Prime Minister Narendra Modi-headed Union Cabinet approving a proposal mooted by Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh, Incharge Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
“The Union Cabinet which met today in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Modi cleared the proposal for creation of two posts each of Judicial and Administrative Members for two new CAT benches,” the officials said. ....

JAMMU, June 3: The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh have performed well in NITI Aayog’s Sustainable Development Goal India Index 2020-21, which was released by the National Institution for Transforming India today.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) constituted through an unprecedented consultative process have 17 sub-goals and 169 related targets to be achieved by 2030 and the Index for SDGs evaluates progress of States and Union Territories on social, economic and environmental parameters.
The Index, developed in collaboration with the United Nations in India, measures the progress at the national and sub-national level in the country’s journey towards meeting the global goals and targets. ....

Reorganisation Act 2019 , brought with it, certain requirements and tasks to be accomplished which progressively has been attended to by both the Union Territories though gradually but a few still remain to be completed. One of them is not recognising a “state Bird” and a “State Animal ” for the two UTs and in this respect , nothing practical seems to have been done as if the exercise entailed going through very difficult layers of proposals , counter proposals and constituting of committees to decide the issue. Agreed, most of the administrative priorities during the period under reference were devoted to and expended on fighting the Carona virus crisis but that could no longer become an alibi for most of the issues to remain unattended. JAMMU, Apr 10: Despite difficult situation created by deadly Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Common High Court of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh and District and Subordinate Courts have performed well as far as Case Clearance Rate (CCR) is concerned.
This can be gauged from the data furnished by Registrar General of the High Court to the Union Ministry of Law and Justice on the insistence of the Department Related Parliam-entary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievance, Law and Justice of the Rajya Sabha. ....
