LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - Lawton firefighters battled a house fire tonight on the city’s east side.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. in the Sullivan Village neighborhood on Southeast 40th Street.
A 7News photographer says firefighters pulled several cats from the home and later gave oxygen to some.
We’re still waiting to learn how much damage was caused and how the fire started.

LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - A man who made a big impact on the Lawton-Fort Sill community passed away over the weekend.
Joe Chesko was a big part of the Lawton community. He was a realtor, a veteran and supporter of veterans, and committee member for Children United.
Chesko championed an all-inclusive playground and in the past few years had been working through Children United to raise money to get the playground built.
He will be greatly missed. ....

LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - An arrest warrant has been filed for a Lawton man accused of shooting a woman in the face with a BB gun.
According to an affidavit, there was a verbal dispute between the victim and another woman, who reportedly lived in the same neighborhood.
Investigators say that during the argument between the two, Justin Myrick allegedly shot the victim in the face with the BB gun. ....

LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) -A shooting early Sunday morning in east Lawton, sent one man to a hospital.
It happened around 5am, in the 4800 block of northeast Winfield Circle.
According to police, a 19 year old man was shot in the leg.
He was taken to a hospital in an ambulance with non life threatening injuries.
At this time, no one has been taken into custody.
Police are still working to determine what led up to the shooting. ....

LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - Today is the start of a new chapter for some City of Lawton employees as they start work in the newly finished Public Safety Facility.
Lawton City Manager, Michael Cleghorn, said the departments that will operate out of the building include the Lawton Police Department, Fire Station 1, City Jail and Municipal Courts.
He said most department employees have already moved in but some will do so this week and that everyone, except for jail employees, are expected to be fully relocated by May 14th when the city will host a grand opening of the facility for residents. That grand opening will take place from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and Cleghorn said masks must be worn to attend. ....
