No 'solid conclusion' on Ivermectin use for COVID-19 treatment – DOST official – Manila Bulletin

DOST Undersecretary Rowena Guevarra said there are currently more than 50 clinical trials worldwide for the use of Ivermectin as possible treatment against COVID-19.
“Ang problema natin, walang solid na conclusion, merong nagsasabi na okay siya, merong nagsasabi na hindi siya okay (Our problem is, there is no solid conclusion. Some say it is okay, some say it is not),” Guevarra said in a public briefing Tuesday, May 25.
In the Philippines, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has allowed the limited use of Ivermectin under the conditions of a compassionate special permit.

FDA: Ivermectin still not an over-the-counter drug

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 11) Despite being allowed for human consumption, the anti-parasitic drug ivermectin must not be treated as an over-the-counter drug, the Food and Drug Administration warned Tuesday.
It is a prescription drug so a doctor has to prescribe it to you, FDA Director General Eric Domingo told CNN Philippines The Source.

We don't have procurement of Remdesivir, says Health official

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that the DOH does not have a procurement for Remdesivir because it has no certificate of product registration (CPR).
“We will not do that because we follow regulatory protocols,” she said in a virtual forum Monday, May 10.
In a statement, the DOH also denied allegations that it had purchased P1 billion worth of Remdesivir.
The DOH clarified that while it had initially planned to procure Remdesivir and other investigational drugs, the said procurement did not push through.
“For DOH to be able to procure these investigational drugs, a Certificate of Product Registration (CPR), or an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) is needed. As such, the procurement could not proceed as none of the investigational drugs have been granted these requisite regulatory approvals during the time of procurement,” it said. ....

House Deputy Speaker and Bagong Henerasyon Rep. Bernadette Herrera on Friday, May 7, lauded as a “groundbreaking development” the reported decision of the Food and Drug Administration to issue a Certificate of Product Registration for Ivermectin which has been promoted by lawmakers as a drug that could treat and prevent human infection of the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID 19).
Herrera is among the Lower House officials who have expressed support for the use of Ivermectin against the deadly COVID-19 disease. Deputy Speaker and 1Sagip Partylist Rep. Rodante Marcoleta and Anakalusugan Rep. Michael Defensor are also Ivermectin advocates and have even recently distributed free tablets in Quezon City.. ....
