The Old West-themed Fargo’s Pizza reopened to a throng of familiar faces Friday afternoon, after a six-month hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It’s wonderful,” general manager Al Martinez said about the pizzeria’s reopening. “I’ve been coming here since I was 8, and I think that’s a common bond between generations.”
The family favorite closed indefinitely last December after state-mandated capacity limits and indoor dining protocols from the COVID-19 pandemic stagnated sales, marking the first time the pizzeria has not been profitable since it opened in 1973.

New board members, along with one returning board member, were sworn in at Thursday’s meeting of the Christian County School Board.
Tiffany Mumford-Brame, Mike Walker and Jeff Moore were sworn-in virtually by Christian Circuit Judge Andrew Self, who wished them luck, saying he knows they will work their hardest to do the best they can for the students of Christian County.
Board member Tom Bell was selected to serve as board chair, filling the role previously filled by former member Linda Keller, with Lindsey Clark chosen as vice-chair.
Students had been set to return to in-person, traditional five days a week learning on Wednesday of this week, but due to a spike in local COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, that was delayed until Monday.  Assistant Superintendent Laura Morris says they are working closely with the health department on getting vaccines to teachers and staff who want one as soon as possible.

CCPS says goodbye to Keller, Hayes

The Christian County Board of Education said goodbye to board members Linda Keller and Sue Hayes on Thursday at its regular meeting. Both members decided to step down from their seats after many years serving Christian County Public Schools.
“I’ve known Mrs. Keller for a long time,” Christian County Public Schools Superintendent Chris Bentzel said. “I want to say ‘thank you’ for 12 years of service …”
Keller has served on the school board for 12 years. She spent the last six years as the board chair.
“Her leadership, her mentoring of me as a new superintendent, her guidance ... has been just phenomenal,” Bentzel said.

Christian County School Board Approves Staff COVID Vaccination and Possible Re-Entry Plans

Christian County Public School officials heard and approved the staff COVID-19 vaccine distribution and the latest school re-entry plans during their Thursday evening meeting.
Assistant Superintendent of Administration Laura Morris told board members the COVID-19 vaccine would be available to educators in the third phase of the state’s roll-out plan.
Morris added it’s strongly recommended for staff to take the vaccine. The district will partner with the Christian County Health Department for proper distribution. The vaccine will be free and paid for with federal funding. Staff must sign up for the vaccine by December 31 but can take their name off the list if they decide they don’t want it.
