Boxing Association Officials Visit Schools To Scout New Talent

AS part of its comprehensive plan to reinvigorate interest in the sport of boxing, officials from the St. Lucia Boxing Association (SLBA) have recently been visiting secondary schools across the island to scout new talent.
SLBA President David “Shakes” Christopher and Senior Boxing Coach Conrad Fredericks have so far visited the Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School and Castries Comprehensive Secondary School in the past two weeks.
While at the schools, where they shared information with the students about the popular sport, they were pleased at the overwhelming response from students who expressed great interest in the sport, many of whom have since decided to take up boxing. ....

Secondary School Students Robbed in Broad Daylight

Students of the Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School have become the target of hoodlums and thieves as they have become the victims of robberies over the past week.
During an interview, Principal Rohan Lubon confirmed that in a space of a week at least five of his students had been robbed, some on their way to school.
What’s even more concerning is that the thieves aren’t only stealing personal possessions from the children, some are attacking the students with knives.
Lubon confirmed that the school frequently educates students on safety tips and measures that should be practiced to curb unwanted attention to them and their valuables. ....
