Better bridges to boost flood immunity as projects ramp up around Toowoomba region

The Postmans Ridge community can look forward to more local upgrades with the Rocky Creek Bridge on Murphy’s Creek Road to be replaced.
Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said $11 million would be invested to replace the bridge, one of many regional infrastructure projects being funded in Queensland’s COVID-19 Economic Recovery Plan.
“The current bridge was built in 1928 and is a single lane bridge with give way control,” Mr Bailey said.
“The new bridge will have two lanes to improve safety, flood resilience and traffic flow by removing the need for westbound traffic to stop and give way. ....

UPDATE, 2.45PM: One lane of the Leichhardt Highway is still blocked after a reported caravan rollover.
It is understood the caravan that rolled was attached to a vehicle and rolled upside down. The vehicle did not roll.
According to a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman the driver was uninjured and did not require transport to hospital.
Emergency services are waiting for a tow truck to remove the caravan from the road.
INITIAL: Emergency services are responding to reports of a single-vehicle rollover north of Dululu.
The crash was reported about 12.40pm on the Leichhardt Highway, near Lawries Road. ....

Fire crews work to extinguish truck fire on CQ highway

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews are working to extinguish a truck that caught fire on the Leichhardt Highway on Monday.
Emergency services were called to the incident at Ghinghinda, past Theodore, about 10am.
The bulk of the truck was extinguished at 11.30am, however, it is understood the trailer was carrying manure, which crews are still working to extinguish.
Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics assessed a man in his 40s with smoke inhalation.
The man did not require hospital transportation.
One lane is open to traffic on the Leichhardt Highway at Ghinghinda.
Emergency services remain on scene. ....
